At a press conference at the soccer center in central Seoul on Thursday, Heo said, "We have continued to complete the election, but we have left the unification open," adding, "I think Shin is a great candidate in many areas, including commentary. A total of three people are running for president of the Korea Football Association. First, the current president of the Korea Football Association Chung Mong-kyu will challenge his fourth consecutive term. Candidate Huh and candidate Shin also announced their candidacy. With only four days left, the current structure of the election is widely believed to be dominated by current chairman Chung Mong-koo. "I knew it was a tilted playground from the beginning, but the Korea Football Association is showing the height of injustice and opacity far beyond these expectations," he criticized.
With time running out, Heo can pull out another trump card. Unification is the way to achieve it. If he joins forces with Shin, who has to compete, he can narrow the gap with Chung.
